Reviving an Old Tutu - Insert a Hoop!

Revive your old tutu and give it a lift! ⬆Before inserting a hoop.              ⬇ After inserting a hoop. If you have an old tutu that isn’t perky anymore, inserting a hoop will go a long way toward reviving the skirt.  Thank you to Barbara Ponder for the before and after pictures. Put a connector on one end of the hoop wire, thread it through the casing, adjust the hoop to get the shape you want, cut the hoop wire and insert the other end into the connector.

The hoop wire can be dyed using a general all purpose union dye, such as Rit Dye, or acid dyes that can be purchased at Pro Chemical & Dye or Dharma Trading.   Follow all safety and usage instructions on the dye packaging and website. We use an electric skillet but you can also use a burner on your stove or outdoor grill.   TEST!!  Cut a small piece of hoop wire to test the amount of time it will take to get the desired result.
